So here's a little something I made this friday over a couple hours while messing around in anvil studio. I thought it turned out pretty good, so here's a public YouTube upload! The original song sounded really great, but due to technical limitations of the PC-98 hardware, it never got the kind of instrument set it really deserved. But thanks to DezZival's Ocarina of Time soundfont, along with an upload of the original midi file by the user "帕琪妮特", it was simple to update this song with instruments from Ocarina of Time. After adding VSTSynthFontAS32.dll to the Anvil Studio folder and loading the .midi, it was only a matter of choosing which instruments sounded good with each track and adjusting all of their volumes, and making some audio encodes in VLC Media. I've uploaded the song's files to archive.org on the following page: https://archive.org/details/badapple-oot - This page includes a .flac version, .wav version, .mp3 version, along with the original .mid file, the modified .mid file used for this cover, and the Ocarina of Time soundtrack to playback with the .mid file. And of course, thanks so much to ZUN for composing the original Bad Apple!! What a catchy song it is, it's melody actually sounds better than Masayoshi's remix in my opinion. With modern sound effects, I'm sure the original Bad Apple song would sound much better than before. And if there was ever any doubt, of course you can use this song for anything you'd like. I would especially love to hear this in an ocarina of time romhack one day, or perhaps as a trailer theme. However, please refrain from reposting this song on websites like nicovideo without giving proper credit to me and others for making this cover possible. Please link back to this video. ニコニコ動画ユーザーへ:転載の際はこの動画へのリンクを貼って頂けますようお願い致します。- Credits to NaokiP for this translation. - This actually isn't my first time trying this. I tested out this concept by replacing the instruments in the "U.N. Owen Was Her" song to see if I could get something that sounded decent out of swapping the instruments, and it turned out good. I spent more time and effort perfecting this song though, so I don't feel like that attempt is worth uploading to YouTube, unless anybody is just curious. For those anticipating when the next Zelda video is coming, don't you worry! I have an updated version of the N64 Majora's Mask any% TAS along with personal commentary that should be coming out sometime next week hopefully, as long as I have enough time to edit the video.
